Halloween in Costa Rica
This post is a little late because my mom and I took a little vacation to Esterillos (more on that later).
Halloween has always been fun for me. Picking out a costume and getting all dolled up is something I enjoy. Growing up, we had plenty of neighborhoods to visit on Halloween and of course there was always a party or two at school.
Living in Costa Rica is quite different.
Ticos (Costa Ricans), don't really celebrate Halloween, but they, like most Latin America countries, have a day to honor the dead; Dia de los Muertos usually falls around Halloween so the festive vibe is in the air.
Trick or Treat
My friend, Nano and I participated in "Halloween" by going trick or treating. This year I dressed up as Ginger from Gilligan's Island. A show I really loved growing up.
The homes we visited were mainly expats so we didn't "trick" Ticos :) We did score on a few unexpected treats like homemade brownies and chocolate chip cookies.
