Recap: The Atenas Art & Craft Show
My mom and I had the pleasure of attending and showing my art at the Atenas Art and Craft Show held this last Saturday, July 22nd. The show started bright and early at 7:30 am featuring a Texas-style breakfast. Most of the bleary-eyed artists and vendors wandered around for awhile, in search of coffee, to jump start the day. And what a day it was!
Many artists, bakers, and entertainers from every part of the Costa Rican Central Valley exhibited including a guitar-toting Bob Marley impersonator, local school children selling their home baked goodies, and of course, the many talented artists we have come to know over the years. Our friend Jamie, was there with her amazing stick doll figurines, as was the lovely Guatemalan woman selling her ornate designs of brightly woven tops and scarves and intricately fashioned bracelets and dangling earrings from her native country. Another artist had a style of pencil and oils that produced unique and beautiful paintings admired by many.
Jocelyn had a great time chatting up folks as they strolled by to check out her greeting cards and T-shirts.
Although a last minute snafu moved the event from a nice cool indoors setting into the great outdoors, the hastily arranged tents kept us all fairly cool until it was time to pack up before the afternoon rains started.
It was a fun day. Now to start planning for the next one in December..
